We have all grown up watching those superhero movies in which the so called superhero, loaded with some incredible powers, does amazing things. All of us must have been watching the likes of superman, who is always wearing his superhero outfit inside his suit so that in case a calamity falls he is ready to go on the mission. But still, after dwelling among humans for long, he somehow hasn’t learned to wear his undergarment properly. Then also, there is a man covered in a metallic outfit and calls himself iron man, who can always be found violating the law and order, just to bring things in order. And yeah, we have also got the giant Hulk who could do mind-boggling stuff, but 9 out of 10 times when he transforms, he brings more destruction to the world than peace. These are only a few to name. There are various others, who too like these, have some flaws or shortcomings in them. But despite all of their inadequacy, there are still adequate reasons that they rule the hearts of most of us.
So what is the reason behind the love and appreciation these superheroes get from the people? Is it their powers which make us to like or rather love them? In my humble opinion, it is not! Had those incredible powers been the reason, then we would be loving the villains even more rather than the heroes, as in most of the cases the villains are depicted to be more powerful. Now coming back to the actual question, I think that all of them have one thing in common, which is that “they are ready to even risk their lives to fight the evil powers and reduce the sufferings of the humans.”
So how can we be a superhero, although we do not have any mind-boggling powers? As I have tried to give vent the idea in the preluding paragraph that every superhero gives his everything to fight the evils and reduce the sufferings of humans. This very quality makes them to stand out of the lot. In present day scenario, the biggest villains in our society are illiteracy, poverty, hunger and unemployment etc. And in our own “Superhero capacity” we can do our best to fight them as well. Although, these villains are even more powerful not only qualitatively but also quantitatively than those depicted in the movies, but if we join hands and stand united, then we surely can combine our powers to alleviate those evils. In this respect, I would also love to go so far as to say that, in my opinion even a small deed like planting a tree to reduce the global warming is more heroic than emitting laser from the eyes and further contributing to the global warming. Sharing the food from your plate with the hungry ones is far more amazing than changing to an unbearably ugly giant form. And having a soft heart inside your rib-cage is cooler than having an Adamantium Metal claws in your hands. It is just the perspective which matters.
These things may seem to be improbable, but doing the improbable with absolute courage and shear strength is what superheroes are all about. Being a real life superhero can be more daunting than fictitious movies but at the same time would be a more satisfying experience. Now the decision is up to us what we wish to be, a superhero or just a supporting character!
